Scenarios and baselines

A scenario is a named set of manual moves. Plan ▸ Scenario switches between them.

Use one to ask what would happen if a task slipped a week, without losing the plan you already had.

• New starts from Jira's own dates.
• Duplicate starts from the plan on screen.

Switching scenarios swaps the placements and the undo stack together. What is on screen is one scenario, all of it. ⌘Z will not reach back into the one you just left.

Deleting a scenario is undoable while the chart is open: Restore puts it back with its placements.

Plan ▸ Compare with draws another scenario's bars as ghosts behind the current one. The status line names which scenario the ghosts belong to.

Plan ▸ Set baseline freezes the current plan so later change can be measured against it. The Slip column shows how far each row has moved since.

Baselines and comparisons share the same grey bars. If both are set, the comparison wins while it is on, and the status line says the baseline is set but not being drawn.

Two kinds of ghost under one live bar would be unreadable, which is why only one is shown at a time.

The publish dialog belongs to the scenario it was opened from. If you switch scenarios behind an open dialog, the publish is refused rather than silently writing the wrong plan's dates.
